Last chance lists are here!

Whew!  I spent several hours this morning mentally (and emotionally!) processing the retiring Stampin’ Up! product lists.  You will find them on the Heartfelt Inkspiration Resources page.

I will update the Accessories list when Stampin’ Up! does.  When those items are gone, that’s it!  And please note that some items have been discounted, including selected Designer Series Paper, brads, buttons, and ribbon.  Must clear off those shelves!

Don’t panic, however, when you see all the punches on the list.  Punches marked with an asterisk are being retired in their current configuration and will appear in the new catalog in the new punch style.  Several other accessories are also marked for reconfiguration.

I knew June 1 would be a big SU! day, but my head is spinning!  In addition to finding out what’s leaving, today demonstrators are also able to pre-order selected products from the new catalog so we have materials to work with on July 1.  In that box of goodies will be my very own copy of the catalog.  When it comes, you will find me with a Do Not Disturb sign hung around my neck.  Supper?  Cleaning?  Not on the agenda.  I may have to declare it a pajama day.

What you need to know about backorders

You may have heard the buzz on the Web:  Stampin’ Up! was caught unprepared for the huge influx of orders for products in retiring colors.  They were prepared for an increased demand, but not for what happened.  So here’s what they are telling us:

  • For re-inkers in retiring colors, as they run out they will be placed on backorder status and those orders will be filled as quickly as Stampin’ Up! receives the product.  All backorders in May will be filled, but then the re-inkers will be available only while supplies last in June.
  • One of the problems with producing additional card stock in retiring colors is that Stampin’ Up! does not want to cut into the production of the new colors.  So, in order to provide you with the card stock in the retiring colors for as long as possible, Stampin’ Up! will be substituting textured paper for some of the smooth colors — including card stock in 8-1/2″ x 11″ as well as 12″ x 12″ — where the smooth is no longer available.   There will be no change in item code or price for these substitutions.
  • It’s possible that some product will become unavailable before the end of May, but those cases should be minimal.  I will be able to tell you that when I place your order when finalizing a workshop (but I may not know at camp).  The first item to be out of stock and depleted is 12″ x 12″ Sage Shadow Card Stock.

This has been frustrating, but Stampin’ Up! understands that you want your products — I can assure you of that.  And I want you to be satisfied with the products and customer service (theirs and mine!).  I’ll keep you in the loop as much as I can.

And before you know it, it will be July 1 and we’ll be celebrating new and fun products!  Stick with us!

Clearance Rack updated!

Got your shopping shoes on?  There are new items in the Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack!  Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware is just $10.99!!

ETA:  I need to clarify that Clearance Rack items can only be ordered online.  They cannot be part of workshop orders.  Not sure why, but that’s the case!

I love the fact that the Designer Series Paper is only $3.99 — for 12 double-sided sheets!  Juntos and Summer Picnic are some of my favorites.  (Come to think of it, I love most of Stampin’ Up!’s paper!)

I’ll share with you an older project using Summer Picnic.  I love making these purse cards.  Made in a standard A2 size, the fold is at the bottom.  A little bit of Velcro keeps the flap closed.  The ovals were cut with the Coluzzle cutting system Stampin’ Up! used to carry.  (I know some people hated the Coluzzle, but I depended on those templates and was disappointed when the products were retired.)

Stamps:  Tart & Tangy

Ink:  Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie (Craft)

Paper:  Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Summer Picnic DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Other:  Sponge Dauber, Circle Punches (1-1/4, 1-1/8″, Scallop), Heat Tool and Stampin’ Emboss Powder (Iridescent Ice), Earth Elements Brad (Old Olive), 1/2″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Pumpkin Pie)

More on the Color Renovation

You may have seen these resources elsewhere, but I decided it would be wise to post them myself.  Click on each image, above, to open the full-page pdf file.

Thanks to Stampin’ Up!’s marketing strategy, I have in my hands this moment (when I’m not typing) the five new colors that will be part of the core colors.  In particular, I love Cherry Cobbler (a deep crimson), Marine Mist (very much like Brocade Blue with a turquoise cast), and Early Espresso (like damp bark).  I am already visualizing my Cherry Cobbler/River Rock Christmas cards!

I’m happily looking forward to the “color kits” that Stampin’ Up! will be offering on the new core colors, the returning In Colors, and any colors not previously offered in those products, such as the Crumb Cake (formerly known as Kraft) ink and marker.  These kits will be offered throughout the new catalog year, beginning July 1.

The rolling stone, the Mellow Moss

Part of the Color Renovation announcement that sent me into a tailspin (my first reaction) was that there will be twenty-nine (29) colors from the standard 48 that will retire — be no longer available — at the end of June.  (Oh, and Going Gray will leave from the Neutrals.)

Marking my catalog, seeing the “Fond Farewell” chart, wondering how I could create projects without some of my faves — well, I could hardly catch my breath.  My stampers will understand, looking at this list, why I felt so stunned:  some of these are colors we use regularly (all the time!) in camp.

Luckily, I had first seen the new colors and heard the name of some of the new In Colors before I saw the retiring list.  I’m excited about those.  It’s like getting ready for company!

And it’s also kind of like my favorite sandals I wore for years and years:  really, really comfortable but, truthfully, looking tired and very much out of date.  (DH would give me “the look” when I put them on.)  In a frenzy of closet cleaning, I pitched them a few weeks ago and happily replaced them with some I can hardly wait to wear.

So I’m ready to move on.  Meanwhile, I revised some of this month’s projects to give a proper “farewell” to some of my favorite colors.  The tease at the top of this post is a sneak peek at one of those projects, this one using Sage Shadow.

And so without further ado, the retiring colors list.  You’ll want to plan ahead to acquire anything that uses these colors:  paper, ink, re-inkers, ribbon, buttons, brads — think carefully!
