Welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Sets Mega Hop!

Welcome to Stampin’ Addicts’ latest blog hop — this one featuring retiring products from the 2009-2010 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog.  I’m stop #11, so may have just visited Rubber Redneck and enjoyed Holly’s projects using Stampin’ Up!’s froggy set Hoppy for You.

Here I’ll present some projects made with one of my all-time favorite baby sets, Nursery Necessities, found on page 76 of the current catalog.  I chose this set because we are expecting a grandchild in the fall, and I’ve got babies on my mind!  I don’t know why I feel so certain that the baby is a boy — maybe just wishful thinking for DH.  We’ll find out in a few weeks, but I am proceeding “as if”!

To keep your stop short and sweet, I am omitting recipes for the projects — check back next week for the complete stories!  Click to enlarge the photos, please.

  1. My first project, Diaper Bag Tag, is designed to be tied on to a diaper bag (I know you figured that out!), but may also be useful for distracting a fussy Junior.  No chewing on this, please!  The bling on this is from several layers of Glassy Glaze (also retiring at the end of the month) and Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
  2. I think this chick stamp is too cute, and I always wanted to use it in a series.  So March of the Chicks was born!  Difficult to see in the picture is a very generous application of Smooch Spritz (Vanilla Shimmer) on the Barely Banana card base.  It is a beautiful, shimmery texture.
  3. This Sweet Little Sailboat gift enclosure uses the paper piecing technique.  If you like “fussy cutting,” this is the technique for you!  It works best with a line image, but this sailboat is solid.  I’ll explain next week how I did it.
  4. Finally — just in case it’s a girl! — I’ll be ready with this Cute Chick Dress.  I wanted to re-use the chick motif from the card above, but this time I used the same bling technique as on the diaper bag tag.  (Talk about recycling!)  I’ll post the template for the dress and pinafore next week, when I’ll give you more details.  (And sorry to steal Tanya‘s retiring set, Wanted!)

I enjoyed having you with me — I hope you were inspired! You’re now on to the next stop on the hop, Stampin’ Addiction to enjoy Carmen’s projects using the “just” sports stamp sets Just Baseball, Just Basketball, and Just Soccer.

Such great ideas – I can’t wait to try these. Plus I love the idea of punching out the birds to line them up instead of trying to punch them all in a straight row. Thanks for sharing with us!
