Silk Butterflies

No, it’s not really silk — it’s faux silk, a wonderful technique, simple and striking.  I posted the tutorial yesterday for this technique.  Try it soon!

Now a note about the ruffle at the edge of the sentiment panel.  (You’ve seen the tutorial here.)  I’ve made many of these ruffles, but I admit that this was my first attempt at using vellum.  Well, my second.  The first time I used Vellum Card Stock — way too stiff.  So this time I used the paper version of vellum.  Crimping the punched strip is supposed to make ruffling it easier, but that doesn’t really happen with the vellum; I seemed to be smoothing out the crimps as I tried to push them together!  Try this on a project — if you don’t expect machine-like perfection!

Stamps:  All a Flutter, All Holidays

Ink:  Ruby Red

Paper:  Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Vellum Paper

Other:  Eyelet Border Punch, Crimper, Earth Elements Brads (Ruby Red), Stampin’ Dimensionals, tissue wrapping paper
