In a recent New York Times op-ed piece, David Brooks writes that wealth is not the key to happiness. (Surprise!) Brooks asserts that it’s interpersonal relationships that lead to happiness and personal fulfillment. He cites a study that says that “joining a group that meets just once a month produces the same happiness gain as doubling your income”!
Every month someone at stamp camp tells me how they enjoy being with other stampers. It’s not only the creative outlet, it’s talking and laughing with others that feels good. As you’ve experienced, these groups are fluid — many stampers attend different camps as their schedules allow. So you may be sitting with someone “new” you discover has a child in the same school as yours. Or she has relatives in the town where you grew up. Or you have both survived breast cancer. Or her father is your chiropractor.
Stamp camps are good for you! Why not come to one in May? Check my calendar for the camp that works best for you!
