Sunday afternoon, after a well-needed but short nap, we took a drive through the north part of DeKalb County, searching out some historical sites. It was a beautiful day with delights around every bend. Sadly (but perhaps inevitably) so many farm buildings have been abandoned and left to fall apart, but here and there someone will have taken care to show a little affection for those hardworking structures with a barn star.
So I was inspired to create this card. It uses a technique we did in class some time ago that shades one half of each star “leg” to give the illusion of dimension. In real life, these stars really do look 3-D. I used a piece of black card stock textured with the Distressed plate to pay homage to barn siding.
