Sneak peek of Soft Suede

I’m guessing that you won’t be too impressed with the new Soft Suede In Color from Stampin’ Up! — at least not from this picture.  It’s difficult to capture how different it is from Cocoa and Chocolate, but it really is — with a bit of a nutmeg feel.  It’s a beauty, and fits so perfectly into the SU! palette.

This was my first project with my new supplies, and the screams you heard were me cutting into the first sheet of new card stock!  But it’s done, I’ve relaxed, and now the fun begins.

This card is nearly an exact CASE from demo Karen Squires.  She based hers on this card sketch from SplitCoastStampers.  You see how it is with sketches — they’re just basic guidelines.  It made sense for her to turn her sketch on its side.

Do you recognize the stamp?  No, it’s not an image of cattails; those are created by adhering punchies from the Horizontal Slot Punch.  Clever!  One tip if you recplicate this:  put a tiny bit of 2-Way Glue on the stems rather than on the punchies.  It’s difficult to control the placement of them, and worse when they have glue on them.

Stamps:  Inspired by Nature

Ink:  Old Olive

Paper:  Naturals Ivory, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Kiwi Kiss

Other:  Big Shot with Texturz Plates Backgrounds I (Harlequin) and Kit #4 (Distressed), Horizontal Slot Punch

OMG! That is absolutely fabulous! I have that stamp and never in a million years would have thought to make it into cat tails! Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration with us!

Ditto to Sally’s comment. So very clever and I am looking forward to the new IN Colors for this year. I’ve decided that there is fun to be had in embracing them! Kind of a twirling with a full skirt on kind of thing 🙂

Careful — I’m pretty sure I have a picture of you in a full skirt, complete with petticoats. That would be a fun post!

How much do you want for that photo? If it’s the Home Ec skirt with an entire elastic waistband, I’ll pay you double.

I was planning on staying away from the “in” colors this time around!! That soft suede looks great. Also love the cattails!
